Tribal Bellydance in Rockhampton, Central Queensland

Experience the power of the world's oldest dances in a supportive, group-based women's dance class.  Tribal Bellydance draws on the western world's fascination with Middle Eastern dance, fusing bellydance with age-old knowledge from India, Persia, Andalusia, Egypt and North Africa, and folk dances and music from every country along the silk road.

!!!NEWS!!!

It'a official - this year I'm taking a REAL Christmas holiday - the last class for the year will be on the 12th of December, and classes resume the 6th of January - happy birthday Mum!  There's also no class on the 14th of November - school reunion!  I HAVE to get a weeknight, hopefully we'll have a new lesson time for next year.

Dates for Full-moon Drumming and fire-dancing are now listed under "Performances" on the Classes and Gigs  page.  Bring a drum, dancing feet or just a picnic to watch the full moon rise over Yeppoon Main Beach and dig in to African drumming.

We've organized a drumming circle from 2:45pm Saturdays, just before class.  Come early to learn basic Middle Eastern-style rhythms and have your FREE extra 15 minutes of fun.

On Saturdays the La Rossa class is now preceded by a group of big burly knights (and me in the middle), practicing medieval European martial arts - wrestling and a little dagger and sword.  If you're a little early for class you're welcome to sit in the verandah area off to the side and watch!

La Rossa invites women and girls 6 and up, of all shapes and sizes, to be active and have fun learning this great social dance style.  You don't need prior dance experience.  You don't have to bare your belly!

Tribal Bellydance = danced as a TRIBE

Classes focus on dancing TOGETHER - we learn the moves, then share what we know by taking turns at leading the dance.  Each dancer has something special to share with the tribe, but no-one is forced to lead the dance - do it when you're ready.

Class time is YOUR time to relax outside your daily life, concentrate on your well-being, listen to your body and connect with your fellow dancers.  For busy women, tribal bellydance classes combine FUN aerobic exercise, stretches for flexibility, wonderful music, relaxation and a social outing all in one!
